Pathway to Medical School Mentorship Sprint
Find guidance. Build confidence. Take your next step toward medical school.
Applying to medical school can feel overwhelming, but you don’t have to navigate it alone.
The Pathway to Medical School Mentorship Sprint is a focused four-week experience within the AMSA Mentorship Program designed to connect premedical students with mentors who can offer guidance, perspective, and support throughout the medical school journey.
Whether you’re preparing your application, exploring medicine, strengthening your experiences, or looking for someone who has been through the process before, this sprint gives you a structured way to ask questions, build confidence, and connect with a supportive medical community.

Why Mentorship Matters
The path to medical school is about more than submitting a strong application.
It’s about gaining perspective, asking better questions, understanding your options, and feeling supported as you make important decisions about your future.
Through the Pathway to Medical School Mentorship Sprint, participants are thoughtfully paired based on interests, goals, and experience so each connection feels meaningful and relevant.
This program is designed to help mentees gain clarity and confidence while giving mentors an opportunity to support the next generation of future physicians.
How the Sprint Works
1. Apply: Mentors and mentees complete an application.
2. Get Matched: AMSA pairs mentors and mentees based on shared interests, goals, and areas of expertise.
3. Meet Weekly: Each pair participates in one mentoring call per week during the four-week sprint.
4. Reflect and Connect: The program closes with reflections, feedback, and a virtual happy hour.
What’s the Commitment?
By applying to this program, participants agree to take part in four weekly mentor-mentee calls, with one call per week during the month-long sprint.
Calls may be held by phone or video, based on what works best for each individual pair. Each call should be at least 30 minutes to allow enough time for meaningful discussion around that week’s topic.
While we hope these connections continue beyond the sprint, the sprint format is intentionally designed to make mentorship accessible, focused, and manageable for busy students and professionals.
