New! Have you ever been unsure of how to advocate for yourself or others in your training journey? Maybe you’ve come across a difficult interpersonal conflict or have felt drawn to speak out about an institutional issue in your school or community. Our Advo Coaches are knowledgeable and compassionate physician advocates who can help steer you through the specifics of speaking to your administration, to the press, and more about the issues that you feel called to advocate for—while being mindful of the dynamics surrounding medical students that often prevent them from speaking out.
Are you a medical student interested in providing abortions in your career, but you’re not sure where to start? Studies show that medical education is not adequately addressing the need for abortion providers. Training can be difficult to find or insufficient, which only perpetuates the gap in access to abortions. Sign up for our Repro Health Mentorship Sprint, and you’ll be matched one-to-one with a mentor ready to help shed light on this path to providing complete reproductive healthcare to your future patients.
New! Are you passionate about advocacy? Our members are too! We’re enlisting Advo Coaches to lead the way and help steer students through the specifics of speaking to their administration, to the press, and more about the issues that they feel called to advocate for—while being mindful of the dynamics surrounding medical students that often prevent them from speaking out. In this program, you’ll be able to set your preferred hours and availability for students in need of this service to request an appointment. Volunteer as much or as little as your schedule allows. Every meeting will make a difference!
Are you an abortion provider? If so, how great would it have been as a medical student to know what you know now? You navigated your way into practicing abortion care in spite of obstacles such as opt-in training that can be difficult to find or even excluded from med school curricula. You researched practice settings for your career in providing abortions, and you’ve probably made as much sense of the web of abortion regulations as anyone can.
AMSA wants to match you with medical students who are interested in learning what you’ve worked so hard to know over the years of your career. Together we can remove some of the obstacles around entering into this type of essential reproductive healthcare practice and start bridging the gaps in access—for everyone.
