FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE

Sterling, VA—Deborah Vozzella Hall, fourth-year medical student at the University of Connecticut School of Medicine, will begin serving her term as National President of the American Medical Student Association (AMSA) on May 1, 2015. Hall will work full-time at AMSA’s national office in Sterling, Virginia, where she will chair the Board of Trustees, represent more than 40,000 physicians-in-training, maintain alliances with other organizations and visit AMSA chapters across the country. She previously held the Board of Trustees positions of President-Elect, Vice President for Internal Affairs and National Secretary.

At the recent AMSA Annual Convention, Kelly Thibert, a third-year at Nova Southeastern University College of Osteopathic Medicine, was elected President-Elect. She will serve for one year before becoming National President in May 2016. Thibert is currently AMSA’s Vice President for Internal Affairs and has previously served as National Secretary.The members of the 2015-2016 AMSA Board of Trustees, including those elected at AMSA’s Annual Convention last month:

  • Vice President for Membership: Rinku Skaria, University of Arizona College of Medicine–Tucson
  • Vice President of Program Development: Perry Tsai, University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill
  • Vice President of Leadership Development: Rita Kuwahara, University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill School of Medicine
  • Secretary: Fludiona Naka, University of Connecticut School of Medicine
  • Graduate Trustee: Aliye Runyan, M.D.
  • International Trustee: Michael Sparks, Ross University School of Medicine
  • Premedical Trustee: Stefanie Smith, University of Missouri
  • Immediate Past President: Britani Kessler, D.O.
  • The New Physician Student Editor: Joseph Johnson, Lincoln Memorial University DeBusk College of Osteopathic Medicine
