Oscar Cazares

Course Director, Health Justice

Oscar Cazares is a UTRGV graduate with a dual degree in Biology and Psychology and a Medical Humanities minor. He is currently pursuing a second UTRGV Bachelor’s degree in Political Science with a Global Health and Migration minor, as well as a Certificate in Gender and Women’s Studies. Oscar has a couple of AMSA accolades at the national level. He raised from the ground up an AMSA Chapter that
soon thereafter won a Paul R. Wright Chapter Success Award. Years later, the same Chapter won a 1st place title for a disability campaign that Oscar founded and supervised. His AMSA National leadership experiences include being an Action Committee Coordinator and a Premedical Membership Director. He has been involved in a variety of research projects—one of which currently involves intersectionality
(different types of discrimination) and HIV/AIDS. His hobbies include teaching languages, enjoying the city, and reifying his movie buff title.
