The AMSA Machine Learning in Healthcare Scholars Program is a self-paced, asynchronous summer experience designed to give future healthcare professionals a strong foundation in artificial intelligence (AI) and machine learning (ML). In partnership with the MGH Institute of Health Professions, participants will complete the Introduction to AI & Machine Learning in Healthcare course on edX—gaining hands-on exposure to cutting-edge applications of AI in clinical care, operations, and beyond.

This program empowers students with the knowledge and skills needed to thrive in a rapidly evolving healthcare landscape—while providing the flexibility to learn at your own pace throughout the summer. The deadline to apply is May 16.

Certificate Options

You can earn one—or both—of the following certificates to demonstrate your expertise:

  • Verified Certificate from edX (optional)
    Choose the Verified Track on edX to access graded assessments and earn an official certificate from the MGH Institute of Health Professions.
    ✔️ Cost: $309 USD
    ✔️ Score 80% or higher on course assessments to qualify
    ✔️ Eligible for partial academic credit toward select master’s or certificate programs at MGHIHP

  • AMSA Certificate of Completion
    All participants who finish the course modules—regardless of whether they choose the Verified Track—are eligible to receive a certificate of completion from AMSA (pending submission of final confirmation form).
