‘Making Strides Against Breast Cancer’ with UPR-Cayey

Today, we’re highlighting the AMSA chapter at University of Puerto Rico-Cayey. The AMSA chapter at University of Puerto Rico-Cayey held an event in conjuction with the American Cancer Society called ‘Making Strides Against Breast Cancer,’ last month on October 18, 2018.

UPR-Cayey Chapter President says the activity ‘reached all of its goals and the support of the entire university commmunity was scucessful.’ The event drew hundreds of people together on campus, including survivors, members of the community, and members of other student organizations on campus.

The money raised will be used by the American Cancer Society for programs that they offer to all cancer patients and survivors. The event was such a success that it was even covered in Primera Hora, a local newspaper in Puerto Rico.

The Chapter President at UPR-Cayey says: “It is in our interest as a chapter to support the community of Cayey and involve our members in different local and national entities. We also support the extracurricular development of our members and to be able to help in their growth as a future health professional.”

Do you know of an AMSA Chapter, Member or Leader who deserves to be recognized? Do you want to share your leadership story with other AMSA members? Share your story or email members@amsa.org for consideration! Selected submissions will be featured on AMSA’s On Call blog.
