AMSA Medical Students

When you join AMSA, you become part of a vital force of future physicians who believe that health professionals and patients are partners in the management and maintenance of health, and that access to high-quality health care is a right and not a privilege. At AMSA, activism is a way of life. Student idealism is transformed into meaningful public service, innovation and institutional change.

What can you do as a medical student member?

At the local level, AMSA chapters serve as unifying groups and resources for students interested in medical education and practice, participation in the local community, and enhancement of their medical school experience. At the national level, medical student members participate in:

  • AMSA’s National Convention
Each spring, AMSA’s annual convention brings together nearly 1,000 physicians-in-training and leaders in medical education and health policy to share ideas and plan solutions for the future.
  • House of Delegates
Learn about the governing process that defines AMSA’s operating policies & principles.
  • AMSA Conferences
Thousands of students attend AMSA conferences to explore medical education and health-care issues with both local and national leaders.
  • Action Committees
Get involved in areas vital to becoming a socially responsible physician/healer.
  • Internships and Program Opportunities
From conferences to institutes, there’s something here for everyone.
  • National Leadership Positions
New national leaders are elected & appointed each Spring. If you are serious about making change & supporting efforts in the medical community, we encourage you to apply. It could be one of the most rewarding experiences of you life!

Member Benefit Programs

AMSA provides a great variety of membership benefits and opportunities to all its members. The major benefit of AMSA membership is your inherent (and hopefully active) contribution to our collective voice and to the improvement of worldwide medical education and patient care.

We hope you will join us.
