Thomas was born and raised in Iowa to Korean immigrants. Thomas graduated from Johns Hopkins University with a Bachelor of Science in Neuroscience, a Minor in Bioethics, and special certificate in Dance. Thomas returned to Iowa for the Medical Scientist Training Program at the University of Iowa. Thomas is excited to serve as the AMSA Chair of Medical Education. Thomas strongly believes in the power of medical students coming together to advocate. Through medical student organizations, Thomas has written and passed resolutions and reports promoting student wellness and medical education. Thomas has also advocated against Asian/Pacific Islanders American discrimination that has risen in light of COVID-19. Thomas aims to improve collaboration between different medical organizations on medical education initiatives, along with empowering the voices of medical students as it pertains to medical education.
