AMSA has an internship opening for a proactive member who is looking to build experience in content writing for the web, networking, and information-gathering. The task of the internship will be to source, compile, and develop website content for the Health Activist Dinner that is hosted every year during the American Public Health Association (APHA) meeting. This is an excellent opportunity to engage with AMSA alumni and staff while gaining practical experience.
Intern responsibilities will be focused on developing webpage content for the Health Activist Dinner. The Intern will be responsible for ensuring all details of the event are reflected accurately: descriptions of awards, list of past award winners, brief bios of recent award winners, information about when/where of next year’s award dinner, insertion of link for registration, place for online nominations for award winners when decided upon by the planning committee.
The intern will gather the information required by consulting with some of the major AMSA alumni who hosted the annual event previously, as well as coordinating with AMSA staff members. This information-gathering process will not only serve as valuable experience, but will provide a unique networking opportunity.
The intern will create content for a primary landing page as well as several sub-pages for the Health Activist Dinner. Guidelines for the title, topic, and organization of these pages will be provided.
The intern will also be asked to coordinate with AMSA staff to create content related to the event for social media. This will involve formatting text from the website for distribution on social media as well as writing original social media content to promote the event.
The internship will begin in March 2016, with an expectation of project completion by May 2016. Additionally, we ask that the intern be available for subsequent content writing as needed for the event through November 2016. During this time there will be interim deadlines for specific content, as needed by leadership. There will not be a specific hourly requirement tied to this internship, and no travel will be required.
Selected Intern will be given a stipend of $450.
