Program Overview

Explore methods for community engagement while exploring the social mission of medicine and social power structures. Participants in this program will also gain skills in community organizing and preparation for a career as a physician-advocate. Throughout the course, participants will develop an project focused on a proposed piece of legislation in order to apply the skills they are learning. Committed time for reflection will allow participants to develop a deep understanding of how they will engage with their community as a physician and what advocacy means to them.

Why will I LOVE this Scholars Program?

The Advocacy Scholars Program brings together individuals from across the country who are passionate about activism, social justice, and creating space for medical students and physicians in advocacy. Together through an advocacy-related project, we will develop the practical skills and knowledge necessary to build a career as an effective physician-advocate.
