Michael is an OMS2 at Touro University in California from the class of 2022. He grew up in San Jose, CA and did his undergrad at Cal Poly SLO in Biochemistry. It was here that Michael was introduced to AMSA and learned more about medical school. His 3rd year, he attended the AMSA convention in DC and fell in love with AMSA, its mission, and advocacy. He was inspired to get more involved and applied to be a national leader. His first year with national AMSA was as the Medical Education and Professionalism Coordinator for the Health Policy team. The next year, Michael was the medical regional director for region 5 before being selected as VPPD for 2019-2020. Michael hopes to be an ER physician one day and to use MPH degree and experiences with AMSA to help patients tackle non-medicine related health issues. He also hopes to be involved politically to create systemic change that will improve peoples lives across the country and potentially run for local office one day.
