My name is Peter Papaioannou and I am a Senior at Wright State University. During my time at AMSA, I served as the Premedical Regional Director for Region 2 where I was responsible for helping students find advocacy opportunities, membership expansion, and served as a liaison between local chapters and AMSA. Additionally, I have been a member of the Med Students for Gun Safety campaign where we have organized informational sessions, developed educational materials, and have mobilized students to take action for their community. I have also had the opportunity to be a part of the Women’s Reproductive Health Institute in Washington DC where I got to learn about women’s reproductive rights and advocate for them on Capitol Hill. I am grateful that AMSA has given me these incredible opportunities and I have grown a tremendous amount throughout the past year through them. The most important lesson I’ve learned from these experiences is that anyone can be an advocate. It may seem daunting at first, but if it is something you are passionate about, you can make a bigger change in the world than you ever thought possible. I’m excited to apply everything I’ve learned from these experiences into educating others on how to advocate. I look forward to working with you all!
