Benjamin is a pre-medical post-baccalaureate student at Hillsborough Community College in Tampa, Florida. He graduated from Florida State University in 2016 with a Bachelor of Arts in English and a minor in Business. After graduating, Benjamin obtained his Florida State Teaching Certification in 6th through 12th grade English and Language Arts and worked professionally as an intensive reading tutor. For the past two years, he has worked in the field of Education Technology, creating training systems and providing support to help K-8 teachers embrace new programs. Following a number of health crises in his family, Benjamin realized his interest in medicine and turned his sights towards pursuing a career as a physician. He enrolled at HCC to complete his basic science requirements and became involved in his local AMSA chapter. He began to participate in the ongoing projects of the Gender and Sexuality Action Committee and found an outlet for his experience in education, passion for advocacy, and interest in medicine. As a member of the LGBTQIA+ community, Benjamin is honored to serve as the LGBT Programming Coordinator for the 2019-2020 academic year.
