As AMSA’s Education and Advocacy Fellow, Mattie Renn serves as support for AMSA’s membership in supporting their voices as advocates. She is taking the year off from Columbia University College of Physicians & Surgeons to spend this time advocating for social change and social justice. She joined AMSA in 2018, serving as co-founder and co-chair of AMSA’s Medical Students for Gun Safety campaign, along with Vishnu Muppala. Mattie has an interest in primary care, and is a passionate advocate for health rights for native populations, gun violence prevention, access to mental health resources, and immigrant rights. She plans to pursue a career in health equity and in providing ethical care to underserved communities.
In her free time, Mattie loves singing 90s songs off-key, baking bread, and playing with her dog, Peaches.
