My name is Paulo Rodriguez, I have lived in Florida since I was 5 years old. My family immigrated from Cuba to Costa Rica to the United States. I am a Junior at the University of South Florida pursuing a major in Medical Technology as well as a minor in Psychology and Nutrition. My ultimate goal is to become a surgeon and open my own practice. Throughout my undergraduate years I have had the privilege to serve in my local AMSA Chapter as Vice-president of Communications in 2017-2018 and Vice-President in 2018-2019 as well as the Health Policy Coordinator for Gender and Sexuality. Some volunteer service I have done is in the Emergency Department at Advent Health in Tampa Florida, also many opportunities through my AMSA Chapter which are but limited too, sorting food for Feeding Tampa Bay, serving hot meals to the Homeless at Trinity Cafe, teaching lessons to Kids at Head start. I have also had the honor to be apart of a summer enrichment program at University of South Florida to experience what its like to be a medical student. During my free time I like to spend it at the gym, looking for places to hike or working on my car. With all these experiences I look forward to serve as the Professionalism and Ethics Chair and continue to grow as a leader to be able promote AMSA’s mission.
