Tania Hameed is a third-year student at the University of Houston. She is pursing a B.S in Biochemistry with minors in medicine and society and leadership studies. She is passionate about addressing barriers to access to health care in rural and under-served population. Tania has been involved in various community engagement initiatives with local Federally Qualified Health Centers. She is also motivated to advocate for a system in which all patients receive comprehensive and quality care after seeing her own father’s experience in it. These experiences were her first in her journey on understanding social determinants of health and inadequacies in health care delivery methods in the U.S. She strives to motivate other students to use their unique voices in advocating for a better health care system.
