Logan Garfield is a fourth-year medical student at Florida International University Herbert Wertheim College of Medicine planning to do her residency in pediatrics and ultimately pursue a career in primary care sports medicine. Logan is a proud co-president of AMSA’s Med Students for Gun Safety (MSGS). She began her journey with AMSA and MSGS after tragedy struck her hometown in the Stoneman Douglas High School shooting in 2018, igniting her passion to advocate for gun violence reform. She looks forward to leading MSGS in its efforts to improve medical school curriculum regarding gun safety, promote policy reform, and educate on healthcare’s role in curbing the gun violence epidemic. Logan also serves as the Secretary/Treasurer for her medical school class and as a senior editor for The Florida Medical Student Research Journal, one of the only medical student-run research journals in the United States.
