Smit Deliwala is currently a third year MD student at Saint James School of Medicine and is honored to serve as the International Trustee for the American Medical Student Association. Having grown up in Dubai and Toronto and pursuing a medical education in Saint Vincent & the Grenadines, Smit has had a longstanding interest in international issues.
His experience with AMSA began in 2007 as a premedical student, and he held several chapter positions before serving as the International Regional Director in 2015. He helped mobilize, engage and bring attention to students in the International region, where he was recently recognized with the 2016 James Slayton National Award for Leadership Excellence. He prides himself in being determined, creative and entrepreneurial – skills that have brought him considerable success within the organization. He enjoys being involved with his peers and considers every interaction a learning experience. His goals this year will be to work on international health care reform, expand AMSAs international network, and play an active part in the growth of the organization.
Outside the realm of medicine, Smit enjoys playing cricket, learning about the world of finance and capital markets, and travelling the world.
