AMSA has deep experience in uniting medical students with thought-leaders and policy-makers to focus on innovative solutions addressing key health issues and practices. Building on this experience we will host three AMSA Reproductive Health Institutes during January, March, and June 2020 in Washington DC that will bring future physicians together with abortion providers, policy-makers, and researchers for a program designed to build strong connections, to share important research and key information on current abortion care policies at state and federal levels, and to build effective advocacy and communications skills.
Our second Institute will be held March 1-3, 2020 in Washington DC. Full scholarships are available for 20 AMSA members to attend, and include travel and lodging expenses. Scholarship deadline is January 26, 2020 – Students Apply Today!
The Institutes will begin on Sunday afternoon with issue education and networking sessions, run a full day on Monday with deeper dives into abortion care policy, research, messaging and advocacy training with an evening reception. Tuesday participants will meet with key congressional offices on Capitol Hill, concluding by afternoon thereby allowing participants to travel home that afternoon/evening.
The Institute programs setting will allow for interactive large and small group sessions, as well as provide opportunities to build one-on-one connections. We believe the voices of researchers and current providers united with future physicians will bring a powerful message to policy-makers, and a powerful story to the media and the public.
