| Summary of project | We got together with a local embroidery service in town and offered to embroider students names on their white coats to personalize them. We collected them right before the holiday break, they were embroidered over the holiday and returned to students the first day back. |

| Project advertising | We placed signs up around the classrooms, and sent emails. I think it would have been better to use word of mouth, especially from people who did it last year and were pleased with the result. |

| Lessons/suggestions | I would have liked to get more people to participate, so I probably should have advertised more, made more announcements to the first year students - the ones who are most likely to participate since we did the same fundraiser last year. We used the service in town that offered the lowest price to embroider, but if you know someone who will do it for free, you can raise even more money off of the event. Also, make sure everyone writes their name legibly on whatever order form you decide to use because although it can be fixed, it doesn't look as good as spelling it right the first time. |
| ADDITIONAL COMMENTS | |
| Comments | It really helps having a coat that has already been embroidered so that people know what it will look like so if this is a new event for you, i would recomment having the coordinator get their coat done ahead of time to have it on display. Also, pick a neutral thread color - our school just went through a color change and last year we used purple thread and now our colors are green and blue, so this year we went with black thread and it looked very professional. |
