Summary of project A bakesale was held throughout the morning in the COM lobby, with proceeds going towards the Chicago Coalition to Save Darfur. A total of $230 was donated on behalf of UIC COM. After someone bought something at the bakesale they were given a typed letter to President Bush along with an addressed and stamped envelope, as part of a letter-writing campaign. As part of a lunch time lecture, Anne Bartlett from the University of Chicago came to give an update about the latest going on in Darfur and how medical students could find out more about the genocide and get involved in peacekeeping efforts.

Success rating
(1 = unsuccesful, 5 = very successful)
Lessons/suggestions many people commented on the ease with which they could send a letter to the President. All they had to do was read it and sign it. They felt proactive and it was as simply as providing them with a letter.
