Summary of project The Wine and Cheese Night was an event focused on raising awareness of the global AIDS epidemic and educating future healthcare providers as well as community members on how HIV/AIDS affects people worldwide. We held a raffle drawing and raised over $600 for our local, Athens AIDS Task Force.

Funding breakdown of sources and/or donations: The wine was donated. Global Health Committee Members made appetizers for the event. Raffle Prizes were donated. Only about $100 was used of the local chapter funds to cover plates, napkins, plastic ware, advertising supplies, and venue reservation/AV
Project advertising Several emails were sent to the entire medical school, posters were hung and handouts were placed in mailboxes. A large bulletin board was decorated, advertising for the event. We had over 100 people attend. The advertising worked.

Lessons/suggestions Perhaps more emphasis on selling raffle tickets or an earlier start date for selling would have allowed for more fundraising.

Comments The medical students, faculty, community members in attendance had only positive comments about the event. It was a GREAT way to raise awareness!
