| Summary of project | Global Health committee of AMSA at TUNCOM kicked off the “Diverse Doctor and Patient Series” with the goal of educating fellow students, faculty and staff about the diversity of patients and doctors, and how to provide effective healthcare by understanding basic concepts that are unique to a certain patient type, hence being culturally sensitive to a patient's individual needs. In this regard, several presentations were given which highlighted specific patient types such as a Muslim patient, an LGBT patient and a Deaf patient. More lectures have been planned that cover other diverse patients such as the Jewish patient, the homeless, the drug addict, and the obese patient. |
