Summary of project The purpose of this week-long, innovative institute is to educate students about important issues in primary care, develop leadership skills for future primary care physicians and dentists, and engage students in curricular reform and health policy issues. We had forty students out to Seattle and had them take leadership/mentor roles at local community centers and teach adolescents about health education topics. They visited health centers, the Indian Health clinics to see how healthcare was delivered in these areas. Rep. Jim McDermott, MD spoke to close the event.
