Project title Chapter Kick-Off Meeting
Project type(s) Recruitment
Date completed 08/2007
Chapter Keck SOM of University of Southern California
Project Coordinator Natalie Ramos & Russ Buhr
Summary of project Our first meeting of the year served primarily to introduce AMSA to prospective members and to encourage current members to become active in the chapter this year. We discussed upcoming chapter events, the fall Region X Conference in San Francisco, common questions about membership, community partnerships, and open positions for Associate Coordinators in each Action Committee and Public Relations & Events. Each Action Committee Coordinator presented their area of advocacy and opportunities to get involved. Rebecca Sadun, national MedEd Chair, gave a brief, entertaining history of AMSA and explained how AMSA has enhanced her medical education. As this was a lunchtime meeting, we served pizza and provided drinks. Netters were distributed at the end to students with completed forms, and we passed out applications for Associate Coordinator positions.
