Summary of project This event was the result of a collaboration with a local domestic violence shelter. We worked with them to identify potential gaps in our students' knowledge of domestic violence, and sponsored a luncheon at the medical school during October, domestic violence awareness month. Representatives from the shelter came to give a presentation about what domestic violence is and how phsyicians can recognize it and how to speak with patients about it. Also, the shelter brought in a representative from the local police force to provide a law-enforcement perspective on the prevalence of DV in our community. We provided lunch for the attendees.
