Summary of project “Rise of the Superbugs” chronicles the successes of the development of the “wonder drugs” that transformed the face of modern medicine, and the growing threat posed by new strains of germs, such as tuberculosis and staph, that are resistant to our best antibiotics. The episode also features the work of Dr. Paul Farmer, “a man who would cure the world”. He is a founding director of the Partners in Health and has done extensive work in Haiti, Peru, and, most recently, in Rwanda.
