Summary of project We had a booth at a health fair for diabetes education as well as education for CHIP and Patient Assistance Programs. The nursing students did the diabetes screenings, and we gave information to people about what they can do for their health. Lubbock has a large Hispanic population that is prone to DM II, and we wanted to help them prevent or delay the onset of diabetes. We also wanted to inform people of clinics in the area that treat people who don't have insurance. We also wanted to let people know there are programs to help people get the treatment/drugs that the physican prescribes.
