Summary of project Dr. Mark Macumber created his practice Patients First in Chicago over two years ago and has been practicing without medical malpractice insurance since then. He focuses his healthcare outreach efforts on the underserved. I first heard him speak at the National AMSA Convention in Washington, D.C., and invited him to speak at Iowa.

Project advertising We advertised via class announcements, e-mail, flyers, and writing announcements on classroom boards. As well, we sent e-mail attachments to all clerkship directors and to physician groups within the community.

Lessons/suggestions What made our event so successful is that we started our advertising early - and not just to medical students but to students in the allied health professions, law school, and physicians within and outside of the community.
