Programming interns are medical or premedical students who work for 4-8 weeks with the Director of Student Programming at the AMSA office in Reston, Virginia (outside Washington, DC). Internship dates are flexible and available year-round. Although AMSA cannot provide a stipend, free housing is available and the experience is unforgettable!
AMSA History Project
Calling all past and present history majors! We are looking for archiving enthusiasts who’d like to help AMSA maintain its amazing past and preserve accessibility to its history into the future. You will work with the Director of Student Programming to develop a plan for AMSA’s historical record-keeping as we enter into the electronic age.
AMSA Residency Guide for Women
Students from the 2009 Women’s Empowerment Institute are developing an AMSA Residency Guide for Women and they would like your help! Assist AMSA in answering these questions: What’s important for women to know when applying to residencies? How is applying as a woman different? Are there funders who would be willing to help us produce this book?
AMSA Junior High School Service Project
Want to help create a program for medical students to give back to their communities? AMSA is launching a project that assists medical students in planning visits to local junior high schools to talk to students about jobs in healthcare. The project focuses on junior high students in lower income areas, and will provide medical students with easy tools to set up presentations in local classrooms.
AMSA/NPA Mentorship Program Curricular Development Project
AMSA and the National Physicians Alliance have come together to work on a mentoring program targeted towards underrepresented premedical and medical students. The mentoring relationships will focus on social justice in personal and professional life. The Mentorship Committee is looking for an intern to help develop the curriculum for this program, alongside the Curriculum Coordinator and the Director of Student Programming. This intern will research successful mentorship program curricula, and gather lists of activities, books and videos for mentor/mentee discussions.
