ACTION POINTS (2 OF 3)

1. Educate yourself on the health disparities present for people living in rural areas.

The Rural Information Center Health Service operates as part of the National Agricultural Library's Rural Information Center and is responsible for the collection and dissemination of information pertaining to rural health issues.

The Agency for Healthcare Research and Quality Web site provides practical health-care information, research findings and data to help consumers, health providers, health insurers, researchers and policy-makers make informed decisions about health-care issues.

2. Take time to seek out programs and/or opportunities that are tailored to meet the health-care needs of rural communities:

The National Health Service Corps sponsors scholarship and loan programs designed to recruit health professionals to work in medically underserved and rural areas.
