Avoidable Costs
- Compared to the privately insured, the rate of avoidable hospitalizations for the uninsured has increased over time from 24.3% in 1980 to 54.6% in 1998 compared to a less than 4% increase for the insured.
Medical Advice
- Uninsured people are 50% less likely to receive cardiac procedural recommendations from their physician.
