NATIONAL PRESIDENT & PREMEDICAL TRUSTEE WELCOMES
THE CHARTERING SYSTEM
The premedical chapter chartering system at AMSA is really
a very simple process, and it could even earn
your chapter free money from AMSA! There are 3 easy steps
to chartering:
- Get at least 5 active AMSA members
- Complete required paperwork
- Pass a chartering resolution at the National Convention
We, the Premedical National Leadership, are here to guide you
through each step of the way. We can help with recruitment, liaison
with AMSA headquarters, and getting your chartering resolution
passed at the national convention. This process must be completed by January 14, 2008 in order
for your chapter to be chartered.
This guide covers extensively the "formal" portions
of the process, i.e. what you need to do in order for your chapter
to be recognized by AMSA. We have also included 10
Steps to Starting a Successful AMSA Chapter. These steps
provide a list of tasks to accomplish in order to make
your chapter a successful one.
REQUIRED PAPERWORK
There are three pieces of paperwork required to charter your
chapter. These forms must be completed and sent to the AMSA National
Office no later than postmark date of January 14, 2008
to be considered for chartering.
WHAT HAPPENS NEXT?
After submitting the required paperwork to the national
office, your request is magically transformed into a resolution.
These resolutions are edited by a reference committee and then
presented to the House of Delegates at the national convention.
The body of the House votes and presto!, your school is chartered.
Now the wonderful world of AMSA opens its doors for you and
your colleagues to experience. There are numerous activities
to get involved in: Action Committees, Legislative
Affairs, conventions
and regional
workshops, etc. Not to mention the individual benefits.
So, what are you waiting for?
Get your application in, join AMSA, and together we can make a difference!
