The Minority Health Action Committee addresses minority student issues and serves as a support network for our culturally diverse AMSA membership. We serve as a source of education to all students regarding health-care issues in communities representing people of color. In addition, we are strongly committed to bridging the gap between AMSA and other medical organizations with minority membership.
With the advent of programs and policies to end affirmative
action, it has become imperative that we as future leaders focus
on diversity. We will continue to promote awareness of these
issues that will affect not only the field of medicine but the
general public as well. Our goals for this year include increasing
our membership, keeping members aware of issues that affect minorities,
and developing projects on the local and national level. We provide
a forum for discussion through our quarterly newsletter and listserve.
