Welcome to Stanford Univ SOM Local LGBTPM ChapterMission LGBTMeds, the association of lesbian, gay, bisexual, transgender people and their allies in the Stanford community, is taking strides to increase visibility, establish greater community, and educate peers on queer health issues. We seek to provide a safe forum and meeting place for queer medical students and their straight allies. LGBT-Meds has become connected to the queer interest group (LGBPM) of AMSA in order to support and advocate for LGBT med students on a national level. The group sponsors educational and social events for queer and straight people in the medical community. In Spring quarter we organize a Queer Health and Medicine Lecture Series that focuses on important issues in health and healthcare for the queer community. We coordinate a workshop for first year students that explores attitudes and assumptions about sexuality, especially in terms of patient care.
