- LGBT Health Awareness Week - March 8-14, 2009

The 7th Annual LGBT Health Awareness Week is an event designed to educate healthcare professionals as to LGBT-related health issues. The LECOM GSDA will be holding an interactive workshop to discuss LGBT-related health issues and ways that future physicians can address them. The workshop will be held immediately following the GSDA meeting at the LECOM Student Center on Peach Street: Tuesday, March 10th at 5:15pm. Refreshments will be provided. See you there!!

Our monthly meetings highlight specific LGBT-related health issues, placing special emphasis on methods by which future physicians can intervene to promote better health practices. Our meetings are intended to supplement the LECOM curriculum. The next GSDA meeting will be held at the LECOM Student Center on Peach Street: Tuesday, April 7th at 5:15 pm. We will be highlighting the American Psychiatric Association's decision to stop classifying homosexuality as a disease, focusing on the impact this has had on the LGBT community. We will also be viewing an NPR documentary entitled "This American Life." The entire LECOM community is invited. Total event hours: 1
