SURE, YOU CAN BUY THESE PINS, BUT WHY NOT GET THEM FOR FREE?
TAKE THE RAINBOW PIN CHALLENGE!

Pin ChallengeToo often, LGBT individuals are part of an invisible minority who are held in constant fear because too few signs of LGBT support are seen in the world. To help both straight and LGBT medical students help battle the invisibility of LGBT individuals and to show their support for LGBT patients, we are offering a Rainbow Pin Challenge that would earn your chapter FREE pins!

If your AMSA or LGBT local chapter runs an LGBT Health event, either by creating your own lunch time lecture or using an event from our Project-in-a-Box webpage, we will send you up to 40 pins for FREE to help promote your event as a token of our appreciation. LGBT chapters must be registered and event advertised with the LGBTPM Chapter Network to receive the pins - registration is quick and easy!

PINS AND BUTTONS FOR SALE

Wear a "Straight but Not Narrow" Pin

Help make a difference! This pin will show that you are supportive of ALL your classmates and future peers, without alienating yourself. It is tough for your LGBT peers to be out in an institution that has a tradition of being conservative and homophobic. Show them that YOU are LGBT friendly and that your classmates should be too! If you choose to wear it, PLEASE check out the rest of LGBT Health Action Committee's Website to learn more about the LGBT community and back this symbol of support with genuine sensitivity and knowledgeable advice.

I'm MORE than "Not Narrow"! I'm a PROUD ALLY!!

Some straight folk have faced the "heterosexist challenge" and believe that simply being an ALLY is not enough. These Allies may feel that the term "not narrow" does not go far enough in showing how much they support their LGBT Peers and Patients.

For these courageous individuals, who do not fear the possibility of being associated with the LGBT community, we recommend wearing the Rainbow Caduceus Pin (below). By combining the caduceus, a traditional symbol of medicine, with the rainbow pride colors of the LGBT community, which represents its diversity, medical students can proudly show their support on their backpack (MS1,2) or white coat lapel (MS3,4).

Wear a Rainbow Caduceus Pin

Want a simple way to show support for your lesbian, gay, bisexual, transgender or questioning patients? Wear a RAINBOW CADUCEUS!

+ = Rainbow Caduceus

The Rainbow Caduceus provides a visual clue to LGBT patients by combining the caduceus, a traditional symbol of medicine, with the rainbow pride colors of the LGBT community, which represents its diversity.

By wearing this Rainbow Caduceus on your ID badge or White Coat lapel, LGBT patients will recognize the small rainbow as a HUGE symbol of safety and identify you as an LGBT friendly physician.

Help make a difference! This pin will show that you are supportive of ALL your patients, and if you choose to wear it, PLEASE back this symbol of support with genuine sensitivity and knowledgeable advice.
