Welcome to Brown's homepage!

GLAAM is a student organization at Brown Medical School that is geared towards improving the healthcare for LGBTQ (lesbian, gay, bisexual, transgender, queer and questioning) people and is a place where LGBTQ medical students and their allies work together to make their voices heard in the medical community. GLAAM recognizes three main themes in regard to the intersections between healthcare and LGBTQ concerns. First, there are specific health concerns more prevalent in the LGBTQ community which are often unknown to healthcare providers. Second, unbiased/unprejudiced healthcare is a right that is being violated for these patients. Thirdly, LGBTQ-identified healthcare providers face a different set of concerns than those being addressed by mainstream medical education. GLAAM is dedicated to dialogue, advocacy, and action on these fronts.
