National Health Disparities Task Force
Purpose:
- To educate students on the multiple facets of health disparities
- To empower students to take action toward eliminating health disparities
- To give passionate students an avenue to make their voices heard on health disparities issues
Priorities:
- Racial, Ethnic & Socioeconomic Disparities
- Cultural Competence
- Barriers to Underrepresented Minority Access to Medical Education
- Prison Health
- "Widening the Pipeline"
Charge:
- Task Force Leader (one per region)
- Communicate with the task force members in your region.
- Inform the national health disparities coordinator monthly of health disparities action, initiatives, and legislation occurring in your region.
- Spearhead regional initiatives under one of the priorities of the task force.
- Help raise awareness about health disparities in your region.
- Serve as a resource to other students interested in this priority area.
- Collaborate with other organizations combating health disparities in your region.
- Task Force Member
- Conduct one project addressing one of the health disparities priorities and submit your project to the local project directory on the AMSA website (Remember local project grants are available!).
- Help raise awareness about health disparities at your school.
- Collaborate with other organizations combating health disparities locally.
- Communicate and collaborate with the Task Force Leader in your region.
- Inform the regional task force leader monthly of local health disparities action, initiatives and legislation.
