World Diabetes Day - November 14
The continuing theme this year was Diabetes in children and adolescents.  Diabetes is an increasingly prevalent chronic childhood disease with an an estimated 440,000 children live with type 1 diabetes globally.  There are many things that can be done at the local chapter to spread the awareness of children and diabetes.  You can also join in one of the many activities already planned in your community or work in liaison with other community organized groups.  Further information, ideas and materials can be found through the IDF's world diabetes day website!

Healthy People 2010 challenges individuals, communities and professionals to take specific steps to ensure that good health, as well as long life, are enjoyed by all. It is a statement of national health objectives designed to identify the most significant preventable threats to health and to establish national goals to reduce these threats. Healthy People 2010 is managed by the Office of Disease Prevention and Health Promotion under the U.S. Dept. of Health and Human Services.
