Congrats
And the winners are:

This year's National Golden Apple Award for Teaching Excellence went to Dr. James Johnston, a professor of medicine at the University of Pittsburgh School of Medicine. "Dr. Johnston has set an example of balance in his life. His desire to be the best doctor and person he can be is infectious," said Pittsburgh second-year Andy Beck, who nominated the professor. For his part, Johnston said that over the years, he has gained as much knowledge from students as he has shared with them. "The greatest way to learn is to teach," he said.

The Gay and Lesbian Medical Association's and AMSA's Lesbian, Gay, Bisexual and Transgender (LGBT) Health Achievement Award was given to the Medical College of Georgia's Lambda Alliance for its efforts in providing the school with outlets for discussion of LGBT issues-an initiative that alliance leaders say has convinced the institution to reinstate its diversity committee.
