AMSA's Child and Adolescent Health Specialty Forum

Want to target 1 of the 10 leading health indicators from Healthy People 2010? Would you like to spread awareness about any of these important health topics? Do you have a neat health outreach program that you've organized and would like to expand to more schools?

AMSA's Child and Adolescent Health Interest Group would love for you to join us as we take on these issues! We are currently working with Action for Healthy Kids to spread awareness about nutrition education and healthy eating habits. Our goal is to have every school in the US teamed up with their Action for Healthy Kids State Team. If you are interested in working with any of these 10 health indicators, please contact the Child and Adolescent IG Coordinators.

More than 9 million children lack health insurance, and millions more have inadequate coverage in this, the wealthiest nation in the world. We must make providing health coverage for all children a national priority. Investing in children's health yields many benefits, including improved development, improved school performance, and long-term savings in health care costs. We therefore call on the President and Congress to begin work immediately on legislation that will provide comprehensive, affordable, high-quality health coverage for all children.
