PPP HomeARTICLE XVIII. AMENDMENTS
OF THE CONSTITUTION and BYLAWS
Proposed amendments to this Constitution and Bylaws
shall be considered at the annual meeting of the House of Delegates. Any five
(5) or more medical student members or affiliate members of the Association may
propose amendments to this Constitution and Bylaws by submitting such proposals
in writing to the ED at the National Office. These proposals must be postmarked
or delivered in person no later than sixty (60) days prior to the opening
session of the House of Delegates at the annual meeting at which they are to be
considered. If this date falls on a Sunday or legal holiday in any given year,
then the deadline is extended to the next regular business day. Written notice
of such proposed amendments shall be sent to all chapters by thirty (30) days
prior to the Annual Meeting at which they are to be considered. An affirmative
vote of at least two-thirds (2/3) of the delegates present and voting shall be
necessary for the adoption of any such proposed amendments.
In addition, any delegate may propose amendments to
these Constitution and Bylaws on the floor of the House of Delegates without
prior notice, except that in such cases, an affirmative vote of at least
two-thirds (2/3) of the delegates present and voting shall be necessary for the
adoption of any such proposed amendments.
For all resolutions seeking to amend these
Constitution and Bylaws, the actual vote counts shall be tabulated and
maintained as part of the official record of that session of the House of
Delegates. (2003)
