Convention Thought Leaders

We are pleased to welcome two distinguished medical thought leaders to AMSA's 2012 Annual Convention. Sharing their wisdom and experience, insights and inspirations, Drs. Margolius and Holden will challenge you to embrace the leadership role you are destined to play and to serve as a lifelong patient advocate.

Lynne Holden, M.D.

Dr. Lynne HoldenLynne Holden, MD, Thought Leader, is the National President of Mentoring in Medicine, Inc. and an Associate Professor in Clinical Emergency Medicine at Albert Einstein College of Medicine of Yeshiva University. Named 2009 Community Health Leader by the Robert Wood Johnson Foundation for establishing an all-volunteer organization that encourages and nurtures disadvantaged students from Harlem and the South Bronx in New York City to enter the medical profession. Dr. Holden will discuss the importance in having a mentor and serving as a mentor for others and how this can transform our profession.

David Margolius, M.D.

Dr. David MargoliusDavid Margolius, MD, a Thought Leader, is an internal medicine resident in the San Francisco Primary Care Track at the University of California, San Francisco. Between his third and fourth year at Brown Medical School, Dr. Margolius took time off to work at the Center for Excellence in Primary Care at UCSF. In this role, he worked with the San Francisco Department of Public Health primary care clinics to improve access, continuity, and clinical outcomes. He will discuss “Reinventing Primary Care” and describe a new model of primary care that uses team-based and population-based approaches.
