Convention Hotel & Travel

OFFICIAL CONVENTION HOTEL

All convention programming will be held at the official convention hotel:

Hyatt Regency Houston
1200 Louisiana Street
Houston, Texas, USA 77002

Reservations should be made directly with the Hyatt Regency Houston either online or by calling their reservation department at (800) 233-1234. AMSA’s special rate for the Hyatt Regency Houston is $163 (plus tax*) per room, per night. This is a flat rate for single, double, triple or quad occupancy. *Tax percentage is currently 17% and subject to change without notice.

  • All reservations must be made by February 13, 2012, to obtain the convention room rate. Even though AMSA has reserved a large block of rooms, it’s best to make your reservation as soon as possible. Once this block is sold out, rooms may sell for a higher rate regardless if it’s prior to February 13. All reservations made after February 13 will be subject to a higher rate on a first-come, first-serve basis while rooms are available. When making room reservations, you will be required to provide a credit card number and a first night’s room deposit. If you need to cancel a room, make sure to do so 3 days prior to the date of arrival in order to avoid a one-night’s room and tax penalty charge.

  • If a room with two double beds is required, you must request such a room at the time of reservation. If others will be staying in your room and you want them to be able to check in independently, you will need to give their names to the reservation agent at the time of reservation.

  • Rollaway beds are also available at a rate of $20 per stay. Roll-away beds are not available for rooms with two double beds due to fire-marshall regulations.

  • The hotel’s check-in time is after 3:00 pm; check-out is prior to 12:00 noon. The hotel does offer a baggage storage area on a complimentary basis for early and late departures.

  • Attendees will be required to provide a credit card number for incidentals. Each roommate is responsible for his/her own charges. Be sure to negotiate in advance with the other occupants to record telephone calls, etc.

  • The Hyatt Regency Houston and the AMSA National Office are unable to match you with roommates. It is your responsibility to work through your chapter/regional director to identify people to share a room. You can also take advantage of AMSA’s 2012 Convention community on Inspiration Exchange. Post your request for a roommate or let others know you have space available in your room.

  • Questions about your stay? The reservation department at the Hyatt Regency Houston will be happy to answer questions concerning your hotel stay; be sure to mention you’re coming for AMSA’s Convention.
