Don’t miss the opportunity to be a part of T4’s seventh successful class of medical education leaders!
Training Tomorrow's Teachers Today (“T4”) is a five-day program developed by the American Medical Student Association (AMSA) and George Washington University School of Medicine and Health Sciences. The program is intended to provide practical teaching and leadership skills to AMSA members interested in academic medicine. At T4, students can expect to learn skills that will help them develop effective teaching methods, be a good bedside teacher during residency, become a stronger leader, and prepare for a successful career in academic medicine. The program will also allow time for reflection and networking with numerous faculty members at George Washington University School of Medicine and Health Sciences.
As part of the application process, students will need to present a plan for a teaching project. Students should include plans for the project's implementation upon returning to their respective institutions. Students are encouraged to work with their medical school's leadership and faculty to identify a teaching opportunity in the medical school or in the broader community. For example, one student may collaborate with an elementary school to teach a nutrition course to sixth graders, while another student may secure the opportunity to teach an introductory anatomy lecture to first year medical students. Students are encouraged to be creative and to identify and teaching opportunity which will be personally interesting and challenging.
Selected students will convene at George Washington University in Washington, D.C. - one of the nation's most respected centers of medical education - to participate in five days of student-centered, skills building training, led by a team of top faculty from the university. Attendees will enjoy course sessions with active learning environments and an emphasis on group discussion. Courses will center on the following topics:
