The Patient Safety and Quality Leadership Institute (PSQLI) is a three‐day long intensive inter-professional leadership training program for medical students, residents, and students of allied health professions from across the nation. The PSQLI will offer interactive training on the following topics:

  • Historic significance as well as current methods, terminology, and innovation in the field of quality and safety
  • Knowledge and skills to identify an error, perform a root cause analysis, and devise a quality improvement intervention
  • Guidance for the creation of the student projects for implementation at their school, teaching hospital, or clinic
  • Essential communication, teamwork and leadership skills as they relate to creating a culture of safety and steering change within an organization

Healthcare Quality and Patient Safety: History, Status and Vision

This webinar provides an overview of the current status of healthcare quality in the United States with a strong emphasis on patient safety. Through examples that apply to an interdisciplinary audience, the webinar highlights specific areas of improvement and offers some solutions. It also provides a glimpse into the programming of the 3rd Annual Patient Safety and Quality Leadership Institute.

Tuition includes breakfast and lunch for each day of the program as well as 3 nights of hotel accommodations (4 same-gender persons to a room). Participants will have the opportunity to request a 2-person shared accommodation for an additional $60. Program fees will also be used to offset the cost of developing the educational program, including resource materials, video recording of teaching encounters, and administrative support. Please be aware that AMSA has worked hard to provide participants with a unique, enjoyable, and educational experience while keeping costs at a minimum.

Participants will be responsible for all other meals and travel expenses, including airfare and/or ground transportation.
