In recognition that women’s health issues know no boundaries, the Global Health committee and Gender and Sexuality committee have teamed up this year to bring you the first AMSA International Women’s Health Institute. Our focus will be on empowering women through family planning, gender equity, and reducing structural and physical violence against women. The institute will also provide a platform on how to improve these issues through education, training and advocacy. The goal of this institute is to develop leaders within AMSA that possess knowledge and passion about this issue so that they can make a difference in their schools, practice, communities and beyond.
The institute will be held in Washington DC, January 30 to February 1, 2010. The application deadline is rolling and will close on January 9th, 2010. All applicants will be notified if they are selected within 7 days of application, application fee and CV submission. Please keep in mind that the institute will cost around $150, so contact your school student affair’s office for funding as early as possible.
