Medical Professionalism

Welcome to AMSA's Medical Professionalism Action Committee. We aim to change how future physicians interact by promoting:

  • Professionalism over commercialism
  • Teamwork over isolation
  • Patient-centered care over physician-centered care
  • Ethics awareness, integrity and professional development
  • Increased physician-in-training access to Medical Humanities

We believe that priorities of medical school training should include:

  • Patient safety and quality
  • Integrative, Complementary, and Alternative Medicine education
  • Interprofessional Competencies

Our Goals

AMSA’s strategic commitment to providing physicians-in-training with skills needed to operate as model professionals in the current shift towards a health care system based on teamwork and patient-centered care aligns with the following Charter: Medical Professionalism in the New Millenium: A Physician Charter, Annals of Internal Medicine.
