Mission Statement

International Integrative Medicine (IM) Day inspires worldwide dialog, education, collaboration, research initiatives and programming about medicine that is patient-centered, holistic, economically and environmentally sustainable, and conscious of integrating different global medical systems. IIM Day promotes the principles and practice of models of integration and care that preserve the patient-healer relationship and the healing of the patient.

Objectives

To promote:

  • Knowledge of IM.
  • A healthy environment for local and international collaboration. 
  • A global community that participates in patient education, patient-centered care, self-care, IM research and bridging gaps in an environmentally sustainable manner.
  • A global and cultural shift in medicine, policy, and perspective towards greater inclusion of IM.
  • Maintaining the values of respect, inclusion, holistic perspective of health, active listening, cultural awareness and activism.
  • Respectful sharing of information and understanding with regards to its spread and transformation.

To empower:

  • Political activism and leadership amongst medical students, residents, physicians and other healthcare professionals regarding IM.

  • Experiential learning and educational initiatives for students, health professionals, patients and communities.
  • Opportunities to meet and network with students, researchers, community members, and health care providers interested in IM.

      Integrative Medicine and Geriatrics
      Dr. Mikhail Kogan is on the medical faculty of George Washington University in the Division of Geriatrics. At the Center for Integrative Medicine, he brings together his expertise in alternative modalities, balanced nutrition, and preventive medicine for adults across all ages while further specializing in healthy aging.
      Additional Break-out sessions include yoga, salsa, brainspotting, acupuncture & chronic pain, health toolkits, structural integration.
      Prizes for pedometer contest awarded at the end.

    • Join the Portland, Oregon region in an evening social event for students and practitioners of any healing tradition hosted by the Oregon Collaborative for Integrative Medicine. The evening will include time for us to compare our educations and approaches to the patient, as well as hold a safe space for constructive criticism and discuss collaborative opportunities.
